Introduction: I am proud of this piece and all it contains. I didn’t alter this piece, as I wrote my perspective out in a way I am happy with. Pertaining to this assignment, and all it entails, I have no ideas at this time as for what to implement in the future, as I did my best throughout the semester, and with this assignment. I approached this piece with honesty, self reflection, and ambition.
Self Grading Assignment:
I believe that I am deserving of an A grade for the class of ‘Writing for Humanities & Arts’ with Professor Meaks at CCNY.
In terms of attendance, I was mostly on time. I never left class early, nor in the middle of class. For the times that I was late, it was always due to issues with public transportation. For the times that I was not in class at all, those were all the result of health issues relating to my Sickle Cell Anemia. I was also in the hospital for some time due to health issues, and another time I was absent was due to Sickle Cell related pain.
I always completed all of the homework. I prepared prior for my class by writing down discussion points I wanted to speak about regarding the readings, as well as bouncing ideas off of family or friends to decide whether the talking points were good enough to bring to the class’s attention, however, I rarely took my own personal notes on paper. I did however, research topics outside of the assignments to either better understand them, build my points better, or bring more questions to the classroom floor. In the beginning of this Spring semester, I was very shy with speaking my own opinions, but overtime I definitely improved in being more outspoken with my takes on the readings as well as engaging well with the takes of others. I was always prepared to participate in class, and I always actively made an effort to participate in class, and in groups, as I loved the interesting conversations me, my peers, and my professor would get into.
In terms of collegiality, I always made it a point to treat everyone in the class with respect, and kindness, as I would like to be treated in that manner. I was always respectful of my group’s time, and made sure to do whatever the assignment asked of me in a timely manner so everyone could move on to the next step. I held myself to being on time when it regarded my group as not to leave anyone feeling stranded, and I always came prepared, with my part of the work done so as not to be a bad group team member. I also always offered to help my group mates if they felt stuck, as best I could. I never wanted anyone to feel like I had a negative impact on our group work.
I took minor assignments as seriously as the bigger ones. I made sure to always proofread, edit, organize, and correct any work I turned in before handing it in to ensure I hit every checkpoint needed in the assignment to get full marks. I never turned in informal or extremely casual writing.
I completed and turned in all major assignments. In regards to any late assignments, I would like to kindly ask the professor to please consider my health issues that I’ve been struggling with this semester with the new season of Spring coming in, leading to an influx of ailment and Sickle Cell related risks.
In terms of reflecting on the grade I think I deserve, based on the labor I put into this class, despite my own personal trials, I would give myself an A+. I’ve valued this class from the first day in the semester, and I think that I honor that well in both my demeanor and work quality.
